If you could make any change to Ford Field, what would it be?

Wednesday night, the Detroit Lions hosted an event for special premium-level ticket holders that revealed some major renovations to Ford Field for the upcoming 2017 season. Team president Rod Wood spoke glowingly of new designs, new seating options and more excitingly, new video boards.

While some of Wood’s motivations for the updates is to simply keep the venue modern and up-to-date, the Lions—and every other NFL team—are fighting against the growing number of football fans happy to watch games from the comfort of their own home.

Some of the renovations will make the game more fun to see in person, but there are just some things stadiums cannot realistically do to match the home experience. So let’s get creative and make a perfect stadium.

What is your dream renovation of Ford Field that would make you see more live games?

My answer: Personal TVs on the back of every seat. I swear this was once a proposition for the brand-new Ford Field, but it must have fallen by the wayside.

I would immediately buy season tickets if my seat also guaranteed full TV access, with DVR capabilities on the back of the seat in front of me. Just imagine being able to rewind, zoom in, pause and see replays from multiple angles right there in front of you. No more waiting for the jumbotron to show you a replay. No more wondering if the Lions should have reviewed that catch. And when the Lions game goes to commercial or gets particularly boring, you’ve got fingertip access to Sunday Ticket!
