A & R (Part-3: Last Lonely Night)

Aniket’s Smile faded instantly when he saw Rachit, the landlord, standing outside the room.

Aniket was looking at his landlord’s Face with glooming expressions, obviously because of his endless wait since morning.  This time he was mentally prepared to finally see that long awaited smile which had turned him increasingly restless since the first time he noticed it in this room. It was a big disappointment for him as there were no further hopes left after this.

Rachit noticed the un-welcoming changes reflecting on Aniket’s face. He was always seen with a very pleasant and friendly smile that added the charms to his attractive personality. It was but natural for Rachit to ask him, “What happened ? Are you okay?”

Aniket, quickly brought back a fake smile on his face to do the damage-control. “Yeah..! everything is fine.. why? “

Rachit : “Never mind. I just hopped in to ask you to please leave your room-keys with us tomorrow when you go to office. The guy who visited to see this room last week called us to confirm that he is moving in tomorrow. His train might run late and you may not be available here…so please leave your keys with us for tomorrow.”

Aniket’s eyes started shining and the real smile replaced the fake smile when he heard Rachit saying “he is moving in tomorrow”. He replied, “No problem ! I will leave it with you. By the way, at what time is he expected? I mean…. if required, I can wait and delay my office visit by a few hours… just in case if he needs any help.”

Rachit said with a smile, “That’s is so nice of you to think that far for a stranger. I am not sure about what time will he reach. He told the train name and its expected arrival time to my wife who forgot it by the time I came back from office. I guess it was somewhat close to noon. We will make initial arrangements for his food and other necessities for tomorrow, and then you can take it forward to help him settle down.” After saying it, Rachit left.

Aniket locked the door and dropped flat on his bed. There was a sense of satisfaction on his face now. He now knew finally, his dream-guy would be coming tomorrow. His wait was going to end after a few hours.  It was his last lonely night. Ramya’s face started mesmerizing him once again. He closed his eyes to see it more clearly. Now he was trying to see more than just his face through closed eyes. He concentrated a little below his chin, and then on his broad shoulders, and then on chest. His hands moved automatically to grab the pillow. He embraced it tightly between his legs and chest. In his closed eyes, he was trying to get  a feel of Ramya’s body in his grip, by embracing the pillow. It was the only stimulus available to him.

He tried hard to sleep assuming the pillow in his grip to be the Ramya, but his excitement, his eagerness to meet him in person, and last few hours of remaining wait period kept him over-energized all the night. He could not sleep but he was not willing to come out of his dreams where he was spending time with Ramya. It was not as good as real life experience but it was giving him a satisfaction of achieving something that he was longing for a long time.

It was at 7 AM, when his mobile alerted him with the alarm tone. It was time for him to get up and get ready for office now.
