2013 in Food, Travel, and Love Photos Pt. 1 of 2

Here’s a quick look back at 2013! =) Yes, the obligatory year-end post.

Warning: Full of FOOD photos. Don’t read in the middle of the night.

I didn’t want to do this. Really. Coz’ everyone else is doing the obligatory year-end post and I’m hipster like that =)) I’m kidding, please don’t ever call me hipster. Please.

Though I didn’t get to blog so much in 2013 (and my friend, Kiwee, calls me lazy because of this), I did get to travel and eat so much this year. I have mixed emotions about the past year, but when I simply look back at all of my Food photos, I get warm and fuzzy inside. Funny how food does that to me.

So here’s a recap of the 1st half of 2013:

January

My brother introduced me to JCo Donuts and he introduced them to me in one go! Woah!

RJ cooked Humba for me Yaaaaay!

February

Culture Shock PH (our tour group!) gets featured in Jessica Soho. Wohoo!

First attempt at Landscape photography =) Thanks Master Brian for teaching me.

Favorite order in Starbucks: Croissant. Love how instagram-worthy this shot is! =) Hipstaaah!

Kozui lunch date with Green Tea lovers, Dash and Robbie Too bad the food was just okay in Kozui. Expected much more from a Green Tea focused restaurant  :(

Feeling down ‘coz my nephew is leaving in a few days for good. Picking myself up with this tub of Ice Cream, which I consumed on my own. Sorry doc.

Early Valentines Date with RJ in a fancy restaurant in San Juan. Too bad the service was horrible. Waiters fighting in front of customers, waiters banging utensils on our table. Experienced bad service from them 2x this year.

Guided a group of foreigner students of CSB around Pampanga for Culture Shock PH FOOD TOUR! :3

Chicken Masala from Majah Raja! Yummy Indian food date with RJ :)

Finally tried out Tapsilog Centrale in Kamuning. Angus beef tapa is <3

Suffered a 15 hour bus ride to reach Palaui island, located at the northeast tip of the Philippines! Excruciating but worth it =) The view is breathtaking, seriously. This photo cannot justify the beauty of this island.

March

Received a bouquet of 25 roses at midnight, personally delivered by RJ on my birthday

RJ and I cooked Chicken Valero and Baked Banana Peanut Butter Cream Pie for my birthday treat in the office :)

Got hired by a friend to shoot at Fr. Johnny Go’s book launch. Got paid in french macaroons =P I didn’t mind. Hahaha.

Finally ate at Kanto Freestyle! Gourmet breakfast for Php90, ftw! =)

I eat at Sbarro almost every week. Got free bread! Yay!

Ice Cream Pies are THE BEST! Thank you Sebastian’s for creating this Cookie Dough Ice Cream Pie and Leche Flan Ice Cream Pie

Celebrated my friend, Mia’s, birthday at Chuck’s Deli =) Been wanting to try their subs for the longest time! Had their Reuben. YUM.

April

Ate dinner and had vodka shots afterwards at Chef’s Lab in Taguig =) And yes, that’s my Tita and she’s awesome.

Halo-Halo Cake from UCC. Interesting play of texture, ube overload.

My dog, Katsu, moves in with me again for the summer while RJ is in the province :)

Creme Brulee Cake from Kitchen of Cakes and Coffee is love! Skip out on their other dishes but do try their cakes

My first attempt at making a pie with a Pie Crust on top. Not bad for a first try. This is my Lemon Shaker Pie. Recipe taken from Baked Elements.

After experiencing car trouble and getting stuck in the middle of nowhere for one night along the highway, we finally got to Bicol. Mayon Volcano is stunning. Wow. What a beauty.

Got myself Pili Frappe since I’m in Bicol =) Love it!

Bought my first silicone baking set. I’m loving them so far, especially the spatula =)

May

Got me an oven! YAAAAY! Huge upgrade from my mini portable electric oven =)

Baked Chocolate Flan Tarts with my spanking new oven!

Also baked Creme Brulee Pie! Thanks Garon for lending me your torch =)

Baked Chocolate Chip Cookies for my mom’s birthday too!

Baked Pie Cookies filled with Banana and Nutella! They are the best cookies ever! #Biased

The oven is getting much love this month <3 Even baked Panga ng Tuna that flew in from Gen San! Someone’s back from the province! =)

First time to eat at Lola Cafe =) Love their Pistachio Pavlova and their plating too!

Got me a dough blender for more pie adventures! I love pie!

Had an exotic lunch with my officemates. Took out food from this Chinese restaurant that serves Crocodile Sisig, Crocodile Tapa, and Crocodile Adobo. They were good but once is enough. :P

June

A new restaurant opened in Tomas Morato, Cucina ni Bunso, and RJ and I had their Zucchini Rolls. These are good. The other dishes are okay.

Gave in to my curiousity and stepped inside Everyday Mom’s store. Loved their Chocolate Cheesecake Cupcake. Dense cheesecake and really moist overall <3 Just wished the attendants were friendly :P

RJ and I celebrated our 4th year together in Rustic Mornings in Marikina. Lovely isn’t it? :)

Brunch in Rustic Mornings

After getting our massages in Footzone, RJ and I ended up in Cubao Expo. Saw a new establishment, Humidor, and decided to try it out. It’s a nice bar for smokers, which we are not, hehe. But we enjoyed the beer and the salmon sashimi anyway.

Tried out the Vodka Pie Crust for my Salted Caramel Banana Pie I still prefer the All Butter Pie Crust.

Ate at Wooden Spoon for my brother’s birthday and discovered a new favorite dish in this restaurant, their Baked Chicken <3

A friend came from Toy Con and got me this HARRY POTTER!!! *insert girl squeal here*

Got to try Stacy’s after several attempts! The food is just okay but the ambiance is love!

Went on a food trip with my high school friends and we just died while eating at Steveston Pizza. Why did you only come into my life NOW? #ermegersh

Work on a Sunday is never cool. Unless you run into an awesome restaurant while you’re at it! Discovered Sci Fi Cafe in Robinsons Galleria! Cafe for geeks!

Sci Fi Cafe’s Milk Tea and Coffee were meh but I genuinely enjoyed their take on the Carbonara =)

Also while doing work on a Sunday, I ran into Twisted Candy in Galleria! They roll the candies in front of you! I love their Salted Caramel and Mango Chili =) Must try!

Not sure if you noticed, but a lot of these photos were lifted from my Instagram account. To keep updated with my food adventures, follow me on Instagram! =)

Watch out for the 2nd and final installment of my Year End Post this week =)
