Dating Mistakes You Shouldn’t Make

After weeks of bumping into each other in the hallway, he has finally decided to ask you out on a date. You’ve been into this person for quite some time and you are absolutely thrilled. As the days grow near, though, you find yourself feeling anxious about your upcoming date with him. Relax! Dating is supposed to be fun. It should also be seen as an opportunity for you get to know him better. If you’re afraid of making mistakes that can ruin your dating experience, take a look at this list of dating mistakes that you should avoid.

Playing It Safe
This is one of the biggest dating mistakes people make. Although you shouldn’t get too involved and must keep your feet on the ground, this doesn’t mean that you should be aloof and uninterested during your date. Trying too hard to be cool and composed can send that message to your partner. Playing hard-to-get may tweak your date’s interest but being “too hard to get” can be counterproductive.

Being Too Open
Being yourself is a classic dating tip that people always give. Unfortunately, this doesn’t mean that you should give too much information about yourself. There are just some things that should be left untold during a first date. Cute, quirky and embarrassing experiences can be a nice dating topic but you shouldn’t include habits or experiences that your date might find disgusting. You can also be open about your past relationships but you should make sure that you do not come across as someone who is still hung up over his ex. No one would date someone who seems to be still in love with his or her ex.

Getting Ahead Of Yourself
Daydreaming about the future is not bad. But, when you start talking about “your children” before a relationship has even begun, you’re bound to drive the guy away. It’s alright to talk about some activities that you can do together in the future. Being attentive to some common hobbies that you can do together can be a great way to set up more dates in the weeks ahead. But, talking about the type of wedding that you like and how you plan to raise your kids will make your date balk.

Overlooking red flags
When dating, always follow your intuition. Don’t be too focused on the potential of having a new relationship. This may cause you to overlook some warning signs that the man you are dating is not good for you. Keeping you waiting for hours can be considered as a red flag. When the man arrives hours after the set time, listen to his excuse and assess it. If he wasn’t the guy you’ve been crushing on, would you allow him to get away with that? Would you believe his excuse? You can look pass some faults as long as you feel that his explanations are credible and acceptable. There are, however, some red flags that you should not put aside. If you notice that your date is drinking more than he should or he is being too friendly with the waitress saving your dinner, stand up and leave. These can be considered as signs that your date is not going to end well.
