Where to find a reasonable place to have lunch in Orchard Road Singapore? Today I show you the $16.90 set lunch in Orchard Road at Demand & Supply. With the service charge and GST added on, the cost gets close to $20 per person. Still, I think it is a decent set lunch in an Italian restaurant at Orchard Gateway, a mall on the glitzy street of the most expensive city in the world.
Demand and Supply is an Italian trattoria and pizzeria on the second level of Orchard Gateway. This mall is conveniently connected to the Somerset MRT station. It is also connected to the other side of Orchard Road by a series of tunnels from Centrepoint and Emerald Orchard. The main area with the large windows is the nicer area. But the ventilation was perhaps not in top form that day and so we opted to sit at the other side of the corridor area. No Orchard Road view but a vantage point to watch people passing by.
Demand & Supply Orchard Road Set Lunch Menu
Other than the set lunch, the a la carte menu is also extensive and available. There is a section that list Asian food as well in this Italian trattoria. Here are pictures of some sample pages of the menu.
For starters we selected the poached asparagus with egg and crispy parma ham and the Thai grilled pork collar. Both were very good. The taste of the poached asparagus goes so well with the half boiled egg. The highlight of this dish was the very crisp ham.
We were pleasantly surprised by the portion size of the Thai grilled pork collar. It looked like a mains-size platter of char siew pork. The taste of this was also good.
For mains we chose a pizza and pan seared sea bass. I can’t remember which pizza this was but it was a regular sized pizza. Both the mains were good but quite predictable.
