How to Marble a Pumpkin with Nail Polish

It’s Pumpkin time!

marbleBut instead of carving them, many are trying out a new trend: MARBLING.

You use Nail Polish to create a colorful masterpiece.

We’ll be honest: it’s way easier than gutting and designing a traditional jack-o-lantern.

Once you marble one, though, you’ll want to do more. It’s addicting! Our advice is to buy plenty of white mini pumpkins.

Here are the step-by-step directions:

  • Mini White Pumpkins
  • Nail Polish – we suggest Sally Hansen Extreme Wear Nail Polish
  • Container for water, deep enough to fully submerge your biggest pumpkin
  • Room temperature water
  • Q-Tips
  • Wax paper

How to:

  1. Fill the container full with room temperature water. The paint will not spread easily in cold water.
  2. Open the polishes and shake the brush near to the water. Don’t dump it! Heavy drops will sink to the bottom.
  3. Add additional polish colors, letting them combine. But work quickly so the paint doesn’t dry. (Warning: it dries in the water way faster than it does on your nails!)
  4. Holding the pumpkin by the stem, submerge it into the water. We suggest dunking the pumpkin sideways, so the paint doesn’t end up on the bottom of the pumpkin.
  5. Swirl the pumpkin around until it is covered, and remove it from the water.
  6. Let the pumpkins dry on a sheet of wax paper.
  7. To clean the water before dipping the next pumpkin, simply take a Q-Tip and move it around the surface to collect the leftover polish.
