The 30-share BSE Sensex fell 194.41 points to 26024.50 and the 50-share NSE Nifty declined 57.00 points to 7924.90. The broader markets outperformed benchmarks.
However, Tata Motors bucked the trend, up 0.6 percent after it delivered 1100 cars in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh on Ganesh Chaturthi this year.
