Updates to the BitBar Mobile App Testing Dashboard

Testing is all about trying different things, recording the results of these attempts, and iterating on the conclusions of those trials. The same idea applies to Mobile App Testing on real devices. Mobile app testers can run dozens, or even hundreds of automated tests each week.  In order to iterate on each of these tests and push new, better code and updates, developers and testers need to clearly see the results of their tests.

Enter the BitBar Device Cloud, with a comprehensive dashboard to provide users with all the information they need keep iterating and make better informed decisions on their mobile app testing.

BitBar Dashboard at a Glance

When first logging into the BitBar device cloud, users are welcomed by their dashboard where all new test runs from the team get logged. Users can check how many team members have been running tests, how many devices have been used, and lots of other overview metrics.

Those looking at what testing teams are doing on the service, can check what projects team members are running and what is the current test success rate with those projects. They can then iterate appropriately using these results to make informed decisions.

Checking the most used and most failing devices gives testers a good point of reference to check which devices require additional development work on. Bugs tend to be really device specific which calls for closer analysis from testers and developers; BitBar’s device cloud dashboard allows easy access to perform that analysis.

Device Usage Dashboard

We are introducing two new devices tables for users to get information on tests ran on various devices. These tables are currently static, but with additional releases we’ll be adding more dynamic configuration options, allowing users to filter through device usage easily and clearly.

For now, the first table gives information about which device models have been used most in all the test projects of current user and sub-users. The table can be sorted by every column to get information on which device models have been most frequently used, and which ones have produced the most failures or successes.

The second table shows similar information but from the device operating system side.

By diving into these results, testers and developers get a wealth of granular information on device and operating system trends, helping them focus on any weak areas that produce more bugs. That type of information and analysis will help the overall team improve the code they ship to production, and the types of winning features they deliver to customers.

Stay tuned to take note of the continued expansion of BitBar device cloud dashboard metrics and options for analysis to help take your testing to the next level!
