Equity Assurance Plc (EA) has announced the resignation of Mr Ekpe Ukpabio as its Managing Director/CEO with effect from 30th November, 2016.
As a result, the company said its board met on Thursday 27 October 2016 and approved the appointment of Mr Morufu Olakunle Apampa as the new Managing Director/CEO, but noted that his appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
The company however confirmed that the National Insurance Commission by its letter dated 20th December, 2016 granted provisional approval for the appointment of Mr Morufu Olakunle Apampa.
Mr. Apampa’s profile says he is a chartered insurer and a member of the Society of Fellows of the Chartered insurance Institute of Nigeria and a highly seasoned marketer with industry experience of over two decades.
“He started his career as a broker in T.A Braithwaite Insurance Brokers & Co. and later joined ELMAC Assurance Company Limited as a Marketing Manager in 2000, after which he moved to Lexington INT’L Insurance Company, where he provided leadership in new business development and directed the company’s marketing activities.”
Prior to joining Equity Assurance, Mr. Apampa was a General Manager/Divisional Head, Non-Life business at AIICO Insurance Plc.
He has a track record of business development and management of financial budgets. As a consummate strategist and change agent, Mr. Apampa designed and packaged new products that have continued to add value to present and previous organisations in terms of profitability and market share. While at AIICO insurance Plc he led the marketing team by increasing gross premium and profit by over 300 percent
Mr. Apampa is an alumnus of Lagos Business School and Howard University Business School, Washington DC USA.
