RE: UDOM – AKPABIO’S RECONCILIATION IS ONLY FOR THE CAMERAS – NSE NTUEN

The attention of the Member representing the good people of Essien Udim State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nse Ntuen, has been drawn to the above title of article published in The Guide Newspaper of Thursday, February 1, 2018, where a false and misleading article was published with the sole aim of putting the person of Hon. Ntuen at daggers-drawn with the present administration under the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

Ordinarily, we would not have responded to the article, or dignify The Guide Newspaper by giving it some level of prominence which in true essence does not deserve, but for the benefit of the general public, we are constrain to correcting the wrong impression the article may have created in the minds of the people, especially, the good people of Akwa Ibom State.

It is a false allegation laid on a false premise to have come out to say that Hon. Nse Ntuen, told his close associate that the reconciliation between Governor Udom Emmanuel and Senator Godswill Akpabio was only for the cameras, when in reality there has never been any squabble between the two leaders at any point in time.

Governor Emmanuel, at every public function, within and outside the state, has always acknowledged and recognised Senator Akpabio as his political mentor. And this was confirmed during a recent public function in Ibom Hall Ground, during the 9/10 Iconic Memorial thanksgiving Service in Honour of late Prince Bernard Idiong and late Professor Stella Idiong (parents of the wife to Akwa Ibom sate governor), where the two leaders embraced themselves to the delight of everyone present.

The article also stated that ‘Ntuen, Akpabio’s political godson is alleged to have said that Governor Udom Emmanuel will pay dearly for the assaults which he caused Akpabio through his men and supporters from Uyo and Eket senatorial districts’.

This is indeed laughable. It is a cheap blackmail that points to the fact that the intention of the writer is simply to instigate a feud between the highly respected and loved governor of Akwa Ibom State and the Essien Udim lawmaker, Nse Ntuen, who is at the frontline of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s re-election in 2019, following the governor’s superlative performance in every sector of Akwa Ibom economy.

Ntuen has on every forum called on the good people of Essien Udim in particular and Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District in general, to return Governor Udom Emmanuel to the ‘Hiltop’ and distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio to the senate in 2019 via their votes, as the two leaders have distinguished themselves in effective and conscientious service delivery to the people of Akwa Ibom State, both at the state and national level.

The Guide also alleged that the Essien Udim born lawmaker said the governor will regret giving opportunity to ‘those lazy men’ to insult the Senate Minority Leader.

I dare say that it is infantile to credit such statement to Hon. Nse Ntuen, who is known to be responsible and respectful not only to elders but to all creatures of God’s creation, and as such could not have possibly make such utterances.

It is pertinent to state emphatically that this hatchet literary ware is devoid of standard investigative journalism, as it was hurriedly put together to assuage the taste of the writer’s pay master(s), whose desire is to pitch the lawmaker, the governor and the immediate past governor against one another, in order to strangulate the cordiality between the trio even as 2019 approaches. This unpatriotic tendency of the writer is detested by every well-meaning and peace loving Akwa Ibom people.

On the final note, it is unfortunate that most people, especially, the originators of this falsehood do not understand the personality of Governor Udom Emmanuel, who is not moved by the numerous gimmicks of political jobbers, whose stock in trade is heating up the hitherto peaceful political terrain towards their own selfish interest.

The governor is aware that this is a year preceding the 2019 elections and there are bound to be attacks on those known to be close with the governor.

Therefore, the intention of the writers of this article has hit the rock, hence an exercise in futility. Hon. Nse Ntuen supports the re-election of His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel and Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, for a second term as Governor and Senator respectively. No amount of blackmail, falsehood and character assassination will dissuade the former National deputy ALGON boss from throwing his weight behind the re-election of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

We therefore call on all to disregard the article, as such never emanated from Hon. Nse Ntuen, rather it is a figment of the writers warped imagination.
