A high powered State committee to organize the obsequies for the farewell of the late Paramount Ruler of Onna Local Government Area,Akwa Ibom State, His Royal Majesty, Akwa Edidem Akpabio Udo Ukpa has been constituted.
The Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs, His Royal Majesty, Owong (Dr.) Effiong Archianga performed the inauguration of the Central Planning Committee for Obsequies which has nine sub committees today, Wednesday, March 7, 2017 at the palace of the late Royal Father in Ikot Edor, Onna LGA.
In his remark, the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs, Owong Archianga, Paramount Ruler of Ibeno LGA thanked the State Governor, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for ensuring that the Royal Father whom he described as epitome of love, peace and unity in the State have a befitting farewell journey to his ancestors on Friday, April 7, 2017.
He said the gesture by the governor showed that he respects and honours a man who had contributed immensely to the progress of the State, Niger Delta region and the Nation in general, thus the reason for joy among the State Council of Chiefs and Akwa Ibom people both home and in diaspora.
He added ” I am his product and I am happy he joined his ancestors when his son is the governor and when his son is the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs.”
On his part, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Udo Ntuk Obom, Paramount Ruler of Ikot Abasi LGA, stated that with the qualities of those who make up the committee, he was sure that the Royal father will be given a befitting farewell journey.
While speaking highly of the late Oku Ibom Ibibio 111, Edidem Obom said that the indelible marks the departed Royal father has left behind makes it worthy for his transition to be celebrated.
He added” This is a Paramount Ruler with a difference. When you hear of any Ibibio struggle, be sure to see him at the forefront. There is no where Ibibio Land will be mentioned without the mention of his name.”
It could be recalled that besides serving as the Paramount Ruler of Onna LGA, Akwa Edidem Akpabio Udo Ukpa had served as Oku Ibom Ibibio 111, Chairman, ExxonMobil Host Communities Forum and member of Oil and Gas Preservation Committee of the Federal Republic of Nigeria President, Eket Senatorial District Traditional Rulers Council among other offices.
