The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, has ordered the planned Ibom Heritage Festival to be put on hold to honour the casualties arising from the tragic building collapse of The Reigners Bible Church International which has thrown the state into mourning.
This was contained in a Press Statement signed by Ekerete Udoh, The Chief Press Secretary to the State governor.
The release said a new date for the festival will be made public.
Preparations were in top gear for the hosting of the maiden edition of Akwa Ibom festival of Arts and Culture tagged Ibomfest Heritage Festival 2016.
The festival which was geared at diverting investment and tourism traffic to Akwa Ibom State through the provision of artistic, cultural and tourism platforms to add value to the state’s economy was scheduled for 15th through 17th December 2016.

POSTPONEMENT OF IBOM HERITAGE FESTIVAL
This is to inform the general public that the Ibom Heritage Festival (IbomFest) earlier organised to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Akwa Ibom State has been postponed.
This is to honour the casualties arising from the tragic building collapse of The Reigners Bible Church International which has thrown the state into mourning.
A new date for the festival will be made public.
Let’s continue to pray for the casualties in the accident.
