At Benson and Bingham Attorneys at Law, we respect and appreciate the art of Motorcycle riding. With motorcycle enthusiasts on staff at our law office locations, we completely understand the enjoyment and joy that comes from being on the back of a purring motorbike. We are, however, big proponents of careful cautious driving, especially when you're on the streets of Las Vegas. The rules of the road for motorcycle riding are generally consistent across the west coast. Practicing defensive driving is crucial to staying safe when cruising the Highway 215 while riding a Harley or a Honda. Other motorcycle rules of the road include wearing a helmet and safety gear to try to prevent injury if a motorcycle rider ends up in a Clark County personal or auto Accident. Unfortunately, even using defensive driving practices and wearing safety protective gear doesn't always prevent an injury if a motorcyclist gets in a crash. There was a recent case of this with a Las Vegas local who experienced an injury motorbike accident after careening into a car on a Southern Nevada roadway.
The serious injury accident involving a motorcycle and a car happened on Tuesday night, just after 5:45 in the evening. According to representatives from the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, the crash happened near Sahara Avenue and Maryland Parkway. The motorcyclist was a 27-year-old Las Vegas local who was thrown from his bike as a result of the accident. The Las Vegas Metro Police Department Representative indicated that the rider was critically injured from the incident, and had to be taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center to have his injuries examined and to seek treatment. The crash happened when a car, which was driving west on the 1600 block of Sahara Avenue, attempted to slow down and make a left-hand turn. The motorcycle which was heading east on Sahara, according to reports from police on the scene, crashed into the side of the car. The impact caused the driver of the car to lose control and spin, finally coming to a stop as it crashed into the wall of a building in an apartment complex. The driver of the car was a 68-year-old who suffered some minor injuries but did not need to be rushed to the hospital.
