It is clear that AAP is contesting in Punjab Assembly elections, but it is not clear who will be the AAP Punjab CM? Is there a number 2 in the party who can be the candidate for Punjab CM post?
The Aam Aadmi Party national convenor and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is obviously the number 1 in the party. But with all his attitude towards the party members and his dominating attitude, there is no number 2 in the party.
If Kejriwal selects someone as the Punjab CM candidate, this number 2 will become bigger than him in the position as Punjab is a bigger state and Delhi is only one fourth of a state with limited powers. If Kejriwal wants to be Punjab CM, then will he announce himself as a CM candidate? If he goes out of Delhi, will he be attacking PM every day, the way he does it now?
The important leaders of AAP who left the party are the folowing:
- Shazia Ilmi
- Captain Gopinath
- Vinod Kumar Binny – got expelled
- SP Udayakumar
- MS Dhir
As of now, AAP has good chances of winning completely or winning considerable number of seats in Punjab if they announce a qualified CM candidate. Their door to door campaign, Congress with no chances of winning and the anti-incumbency factor works in their favor.
The question comes whether Kejriwal can make someone else the Chief Minister for a larger state than his own.
