Bowling participates in the first annual Eagle Invitational hosted by Avila

OTTAWA, Kan – The University of Ottawa men’s and women’s bowling teams make a quick trip to Kansas City for the first-ever Eagle Invitational hosted by Avila.

The competition will start at 9.00am on Saturday 28th January and finish at approximately 3.30am before resuming at 8.45am on Sunday 29th January. about 12:30.

The format of the event is fairly standard and the lane conditions should be challenging. On Saturday, each team will pitch two team games and four Baker four-game series. On Sunday, teams will play the remaining three team matches, and all competing teams will be placed into a single-elimination bracket based on their total pinfall in the competition.

Included among the 14 competing schools are all four full-time members of the KCAC [Avila, Ottawa, Saint Mary and Kansas Wesleyan]; teams from NCAA Division I Kansas and Kansas State schools; three teams from Iowa Central, representing the NJCAA; and seven other schools from across the NAIA landscape.

Last Time Out for OU – Kegel Classic
Both the men’s and women’s teams finished in the top half of the field at the 2023 Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic two weekends ago, a prestigious premier-level tournament held at the Stardust Bowl in Chicago, Illinois.

The women’s team finished 17th out of 62 teams. Holly Bridges led the way for the Braves, finishing 129th out of 400 bowlers. Danika Hickey was the next Brave closer, finishing in 203rd. Bridges and Hickey were followed by Alaina Burris (231st), Kaitlyn George (279th) and Rebekah Loker (280th).

The men’s team finished 23rd out of 71 teams. Kyle Lovell trialled him for the Braves with one of his best performances this season, finishing 19th out of nearly 500 single bowlers. Jared Freed was close behind in 39th place. Jerry Jennings (120th) and Kristopher Quidichay (178th) shut down the OU bowlers in the top half of the results.

Next: The Braves head to the Wildcat Invitational in Baldwin City on February 11 and 12.
