A tale of two New Year tweets was evident as President Barack Obama praised people for stepping up and voting in huge numbers in the 2018 midterm elections, while Donald Trump attacks the “haters.”

President Obama tweeted: “In 2018 people stepped up and showed up like never before. Keep it up in 2019. We’ve got a lot of work to do, and I’ll be right there with you. Happy New Year, everybody!”

Trump, on the other hand, promoted a book written by racist Sebastian Gorka. He attacked retired Gen. Stanley McChrystal and went after the “haters” and “fake news,” while spewing his usual tsunami of lies.

Trump tweeted in all caps: “Happy New Year to everyone, including the haters and the fake news media! 2019 will be a fantastic year for those not suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome. Just calm down and enjoy the ride, great things are happening for our country!”

It’s unclear what great things Trump thinks is happening for our country. The stock market closed at the worst level since 2008. Plus our standing on the world stage has been reduced to mockery and side-eyes. Trump’s national and foreign policy are in shambles, his government shutdown continues and no-one in their right minds want to work in his administration.

He attacked Gen. McChrystal after he called him “immoral and dishonest” during an appearance on the Sunday shows. How do you fire someone like a “dog?” It seems he has a penchant for calling people dogs. He called his former aide Omarosa Manigault Newman a “crazed, crying lowlife dog” because she shamed him in her new book.

Donald Trump debases the office of the presidency every single day. If President Obama tweeted such divisive rhetoric and nonsense from his Twitter account, Republicans would be screaming 25th Amendment or impeachment.
