Rep. Elijah Cummings says Democrats and Republicans are calling for an investigation of Donald Trump over his numerous conflicts of interests. He urged the public to keep pressure on elected officials.
Cummings, who is on the House Oversight Committee, said during an appearance on AM Joy, that Republicans are also calling his office and demanding a congressional investigation of Trump. He is urging the committee chairman Rep. Jason Chaffetz to launch an investigation.
Cummings told Joy Ann Reid, “Our phone has been ringing off the hook. In fact, when they call Chaffetz’s office trying to get them to do the right thing, that is constituents from all over the country. They then send them over to our office. Some kind of way the public has to put pressure on their congressman. And by the way, these calls are coming not only from people who supported Hillary Clinton, but they’re also coming from people who supported Mr. Trump. And these people basically who want government to be fair, and that’s what we are looking for. Joy, I promise you, we’re going to fight this with everything we have.”
The Republicans aren’t interested in any investigation of Donald Trump, despite the numerous conflicts of interest that are staring them in the face. It is up to the American people to keep the pressure on and resist. It should terrify Americans that a man who refused to show us his tax returns will not be transparent as president.
