I Was Paid To Blackmail Apostle Johnson Suleman – Stephanie Otobo Makes Confession

BEVERLY HILLS, January 26, (THEWILL) – Stephanie Otobo, a Nigerian singer based in Canada, has confessed that she was paid to lie and blackmail Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries and has recanted her story of being involved in a sexual relationship with him.

Making her confession before Suleman’s church congregation in Auchi, Edo state, Otobo revealed that she was approached and paid by politicians and some pastors to blackmail Apostle Suleman adding that she fell for their bait because she wanted to further her career.

In a twist to a story she had maintained since March last year, Otobo asked for forgiveness from the cleric and his wife as she has opened herself to the risk of being convicted for blackmailing Suleman.

THEWILL recalls that Otobo, last year March at a briefing with journalists in Lagos, revealed what allegedly transpired between her and the Edo based cleric saying that sometime in 2015, she called the preacher for counselling after she attended his crusade in Canada.

According to her, during the course of her phone conversation with Apostle Suleiman, she introduced herself to him that she lives in Canada, studying and working at the same time. She said she was surprised at how the pastor was flirtatious on the phone instead of providing spiritual counselling.

She further stated that Apostle Suleman started calling her and in one of the telephone conversations claimed that his wife does not give him enough attention because she is too devoted to the worship of God adding that the preacher lured her into an amorous affair, inundating her with various cash gifts.

She said apart from frolicking with the pastor in Lagos, she had sex escapades with him in the United States, Italy and revealed how they arranged their meetings and payments she received saying she would present evidence of money transfers into her account by the preacher.

She claimed that he promised to marry her when she told him she was pregnant for him but claimed he used spiritual means to terminate her pregnancy adding that she almost lost her life in the process.

With her confession, it was not clear what will happen to the libel case Suleman instituted against her in a Lagos court. Meanwhile, Otobo is also facing a police charge of blackmailing Suleman.

The police had docked the 24 year-old Stephanie at a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos and accused her of conspiracy, blackmail, threat to life and an intent to steal. She was charged along with a 43 year-old, man identified as Wisdom Godstime.

She had also filed a counter-claim through her lawyer, Festus Keyamo, denying the allegation of libel against the preacher.
