Usain Bolt Loses Olympics Gold Medal For Doping

SAN FRANCISCO, January 25, (THEWILL) – Fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt, regarded as one of the best athletes in history, has been stripped of one of his record 24 medals.

The Jamaican athlete, who won Gold in the 4x100m relay at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games was stripped of the medal as a fellow compatriot, Nesta Carter, one of the Jamaican athletes in the relay, had been certified guilty of doping.

This was announced by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Wednesday saying Carter tested positive for the banned substance Methlhexanamine.

To this end, other members of the Jamaican relay team which participated in the Beijing game and won the gold medal, Michael Frater and Asafa Powell, have also been stripped of their medals.

Original 4x100m silver medallists Trinidad & Tobago are now likely to be upgraded to gold, while Japan will go up to get the silver medal and Brazil the bronze medal.

Bolt, an 11-time world champion has never tested positive to any banned substance throughout his career.

“It’s heart-breaking because over the years you’ve worked hard to accumulate gold medals and work hard to be a champion, but it’s just one of those things,” UK Telegraph quoted Bolt as saying.
