President Trump berated senior members of his Cabinet during a June meeting about the large Number of immigrants that came to the US during his first several months in office, according to the New York Times.
The President complained of the number of Haitians that came to the country, saying, “they all have aids,” and the number of immigrants from Nigeria, saying that after coming to the US they would never “go back to their huts” in Africa. He also bemoaned the number of immigrants from Afghanistan, which President Trump described as a terrorist haven.
The President’s concern was that the number of immigrants coming to the country made him look like he was failing to follow through on one of his biggest campaign pledges. A cornerstone of President Trump’s campaign was curbing both legal and illegal immigration.
