Good Day World!
The bromance continues to blossom.
Trump gets to meet his hero, Putin, in person at the G-20 Summit today.
It's the moment the world has been waiting for...
Will they hug and kiss each other sloppily on the cheeks? Will Donny get to ride bareback on a horse with a bare-chested Putin?
In all likelihood they won't be able to overtly display their affection for one another. Donny is supposed to be giving Putin a lecture about hacking last year's American elections.
But here's the clincher: Donny and daddy Putin will be meeting in private. There will only be four other people in the room; Secretary of State and Trump puppet, Rex Tillerson, Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov, and two translators.
In other words, we'll never know how hot this little cozy meeting was, or what they talked about. That's not very encouraging and contrary to what Congress and our intelligence communities want to see happen.
Senior advisers have been pushing for Trump to include Fiona Hill, the National Security Council’s senior director for Europe and Russia and a top Kremlin critic, in the meeting to prevent Trump from acting too friendly toward Putin.
Here's the way Donny approached his first overseas news conference in Poland Wednesday...
As per MSNBC's Chuck Todd:
“A trashing of the American press corps and Intel community in Eastern Europe of all places. Could Putin have asked for anything more?”
According to Polish press reports, Trump was enticed to Warsaw by promises of a rapturous reception.
The Polish government, which paid for supporters to be bussed in from provincial areas, appeared to have delivered, as the president was greeted by a boisterous, highly partisan, crowd in Krasinski Square, one of Warsaw’s smaller public spaces.
In addition to the people gathering around Krasinski Square, Trump was faced by a message lasered onto the city’s Stalinist-era Palace of Culture that read “No Trump, Yes Paris”, a reference to the Paris climate change agreement from which Trump withdrew the US.
There won't be any friendly crowds waiting to greet Donny at the G-20 summit. Protesters in the thousands are expected to show up at that gathering of world leaders.
What to watch for today:
Can Putin make Donny squeal like a pig when they shake hands at the Summit?
Time for me to walk on down the road...
