Separate investigations have been launched after two teenagers were Shot in north and east London on Monday night.
A 17-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot in an incident Chalgrove Road, Tottenham.
In a separate incident in Walthamstow, a 16-year-old boy was shot and another boy, 15, received multiple stab injuries. Both are in a critical condition in hospital.
The two shootings are not believed to be linked.
The incidents come amid fears about a rise of violent crime in London after a poorly researched story published in the Sunday Times showed the Murder Rate in London had overtaken New York for the first time in decades.
The sharp decline in New York’s murder rate over the last 30 years should be celebrated, but London’s murder rate has remained largely consistent over the same period and is not currently cause for concern. Both cities are currently considered some of the safest in the world, and feature in the top 25 of the Economist’s Safe Cities Index 2017.
