Fighter planes on Agra-Lucknow Expressway

The Agra-Lucknow Expressway was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav in the presence of his father Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Before the inauguration, Indian Air Forcefighter aircraft flew over this newly constructed expressway in Ganj Moradabad area of Unnao district as a part of a trial to use national highways for emergency landing. The aircrafts flew over the expressway at a speed of nearly 300km/hour.

For this unique trial, all facilities like make shift Air Traffic Control, safety services, rescue vehicles, bird clearance parties and other requirements were set in place by the Indian Air Force( IAF).

“The operation was conducted in coordination with the district authorities and SP of Unnao,” an IAF source said. “The trial lasted for nearly one-and-a-half-hour and touchdown by the fighter aircrafts at Lucknow-Agra Expressway was historic,” said district magistrate Unnao Surendra Singh.

This 302 km expressway is the dream project of Akhilesh Yadav has been completed in a record time of 22 months with a cost of Rs 13,200 crore. It connects Firozabad, Shikohabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Kannauj and Mohanlalganj.

Agra Lucknow Expressway is expected to make traffic smooth. Agriculture produce markets (mandis)are also being developed along this expressway that would benefit the farmers.

Along with this expressway many industries and three enterprises would be established resulting in the improvement of state’s economy and creation of employment opportunities.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister released a coffee table book ‘Making of Agra-Lucknow Expressway’. Appreciation certificates were also presented to the officers of Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA).

Advance Traffic Management has been adopted for this expressway which would help traffic movement in fog. For completing the project 3,500 hectare land was procured in only 6 months from 30,000 farmers with their full agreement.

With a provision of 8-lane expansion, all bridges, culverts, under pass and other structures have been constructed keeping this in view.

For completing this project 8-lane bridges have been constructed on Ganga and Yamuna rivers. Beside 4 railway over bridges have also been constructed. This expressway has been linked with DelhiAgra Yamuna Expressway.
