Our head of Politics and Civil Society cluster, Dr. Sergiusz Bober, presents at the Annual Conference of the Association for the Study of Ethnicity and Nationalism (ASEN) in Edinburgh, Scotland tomorrow. The 29th Annual Conference is taking place over the next two days with this year’s theme focused on Nationalism and Self-Determination. A host of scholars from across the globe will be presenting across the six panel sessions which discuss a wide variety of nationalities in differing contexts, both as current day topics but also historical analyses.
Dr. Bober presents his paper entitled ‘National Minorities and the question of local and Regional Development. Are Danish minority in Germany and German minority in Denmark post-national?’ as part of a panel focusing on ‘Kin-states, Transnationalism and the Triadic Nexus Reframed’. His research forms a part of a broader research agenda at the ECMI focusing on regional development and the role minorities play, plus follows on from his own specific focus on the minorities in the German / Danish border region. See for instance ECMI Working Paper #114:
Dr. Bober’s presentation will be followed by a consequent publication as an ECMI Working Paper in May 2019.
