A prisoner who has been given days left to live due to terminal Cancer Claims his symptoms were wrongly dismissed for months by jail medics. Alan Aspin, from Oldham, was serving time for robbery in Kirkham Prison in Blackpool when his health rapidly deteriorate. The 51-year-old had held down manual jobs in for most of his adult life and had always prided himself in being ‘fit as a fiddle.’ Yet shortly after being moved from Risley Prison, near Warrington, to Lancashire’s Kirkham in March, he started to suffer pain in his abdomen and dramatic weight loss. Alan claims his symptoms were ignored by medical staff at Kirkham’s health centre and were instead ‘dismissed’ as a chest infection.
