First elected in 2015, Commissioner Russell is an International Business Executive having done business in over 40 countries. As Commissioner, it has been his goal to bring a new generation of leadership that seeks to usher positive solutions to City Hall.
Prior to his election Commissioner Russell was an activist for a better quality of life in Coconut Grove. He led the cleanup efforts for Merrie Christmas Park and founded an event that raised $125,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters. His priorities include forward-thinking transit solutions, smart development, reducing homelessness, prioritizing green space, and developing affordable housing initiatives in the City of Miami.
Commissioner Russell will talk about the City's efforts in dealing with Hurricane Irma and its aftermath in the cleanup, as well as the issues of rising sea levels in the City. He will also address the need to renew the City's General Obligation bond that is on next month's ballot.
