Coconut Grove lost two more festivals

So we lost another two events that were once in Peacock Park and now they are not. I think we only have the Coconut Grove Arts Festival and Halloween left, and the powers that be are trying to kill Halloween off.  Along with Sprung! the beer fest and the Coconut Grove BBQ Fest, we now have lost Grovetoberfest and the Seafood Festival.

Grovetoberfest and the Coconut Grove Seafood Festival, two events named after Coconut Grove, are now being held at Miami Marine Stadium. The move has allowed it to has up the ante by bringing a beer connoisseur on board who has been hand-selecting some of the
rarest beers available for this year’s festival.

“We’re overflowing with good news. In our new home, Grovetoberfest will continue to offer local favorites and mainstream craft beers, but with a renewed focus on elite craft beers. We are working directly with the brewers to secure and reserve batches of incredibly esoteric and unique brews,” says Tony Albelo, organizer and chief sample
taster for Grovetoberfest.

This year, Blackberry Farms Brewery will be pouring in the VIP area. Civil Society Brewing will also be pouring at the event, making this the first time they’ve ever poured at a Miami-Dade beer fest. In addition, for the first time ever, Grovetoberfest will be pouring Prairie, Crooked Stave, To Øl, Mikkeller, and Slim Pickins. Aficionados will delight in sampling beers in the Sunshine State-of-Mind, a collection of over 40 Florida breweries including Wynwood Brewing Company, J. Wakefield Brewing, MIA Brewing, Funky Buddha, Saltwater, Banging Banjos, Due South and Biscayne Brewing, to name a few.

A Live Music Stage will feature dance-inducing music throughout the entire day.
Grovtoberfest is Saturday, October 15  from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. Tickets here.

The Coconut Grove Seafood Festival is a waterfront celebration of all things seafood. The event will offer South Florida the chance to savor some of the freshest seafood all afternoon, with a Live Caribbean band, a kid-friendly fun zone, mojito bars and more! This year, it’s going to be bigger and better with over 25+ gourmet culinary vendors.

Taking place at the Miami Marine Stadium, the seafood festival will have a Shipwreck Bar & Lounge filled with live acoustic music, crafted cocktails and plenty of lounge seating. The Family Fun Zone will have inflatable slides, games, free activities, face painting and more. The Kitchen Lab will have a cooking workshop featuring a “Battle On The Bay” contest series where various chefs will face-off in a challenge to see who wins the title for Best Ceviche, Best Paella, Best Fish Taco and Best Sushi roll. Guest Judges will include Geoffrey Anderson (Miami Food Pug), "Kiko" Suarez (NBC's Que Rico Con Kiko) and Clarissa Buch
(Miami New Times).

The Seafood Festival is Sunday, October 16 from - 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Tickets here.

Miami Marine Stadium is located at 3501 Rickenbacker Causeway.
