University of Education, Winneba condemns concerned staff’s demand for Chairman’s removal

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has strongly condemned the demand made by a group known as the Concerned Staff, calling for the removal of the Governing Council Chairman, Nana Ofori Ansah I. In response to the statement, UEW described it as “unsavoury and reprehensible.”

According to Professor George Kankam Senior, the Convener for the Concerned Staff of UEW, the Chairman has violated the principles of the university.

He stated, “Nana Ofori Ansah I has been dabbling in double standards by attempting to nominate someone who was not shortlisted for the position of vice-chancellor.”

In a statement issued by UEW, the claims made by the Concerned Staff were dismissed as a tactic to coerce the Chairman into submission, regardless of the negative impact it may have on the university's mission and vision.

The university firmly asserted, “Contrary to the impression that there is heightened tension at UEW and that the community is tipping towards a state of chaos, we wish to state unequivocally that there is absolute peace on campus with students, faculty, and other stakeholders going about their normal business.”

Furthermore, UEW emphasized that the revitalized working environment at the university has been the result of the Council's wisdom under the leadership of Nana Ofori Ansah I. UEW cited the establishment of a reconciliation committee to address grievances and the subsequent implementation of the committee's recommendations.

In light of these facts, UEW urged the general public to disregard the claims made by the Concerned Staff. The university stressed its commitment to maintaining a harmonious atmosphere on campus and advancing its mission and vision.
