...As many remember a short time ago, Clan Gordon's symbol was the Batman logo and he was given the name "Bat Gordon". This could be a possible "Bat Gordon" sighting in Glasgow on his way to save somebody in despair. Although he fussed about changing his symbol, he secretly has a bat cave in the basement of his home...his secret has been exposed !! Thankfully it is the weekend, the week was hectic and I came home last night completely exhausted. With the looming Delta variant at our heels, and schools set to reopen in a few weeks, Americans are afraid and stressed out. The CDC released a statement yesterday that the Delta variant "has changed everything we knew about COVID19". It is as easily spreadable as chicken pox and even vaccinated people can contract and spread it. Most States are reinstating masks mandates indoors at this time, and of course some people are protesting about it. I am just trying to take it one day at a time. I was finally able to talk with Sterling yesterday. He is as well as can be. Sterling was telling me during his Redemption classes this week, it was noted he was not "participating" in the discussions. Well, he simple explained to them, that he will not answer personal questions in a room full of convicts he does not know. Cannot blame him. Sterling does not trust easily, he has been burned one too many times by friends and family he thought he can trust. Yesterday's post, which I missed !! Was about how inmates con women, etc. Well, Sterling has also been a victim of con games by the best. It is a risk we all take with inmates and even people on the streets you may meet at the bars or local grocercy stores, whatever the case maybe. It also made me think about the children I work with and how they have been victimized by adults in their lives that are to protect them. Working with children is a blessing though and you need a lot of patience and then some more patience. Some children do not open up easily about their trauma they have experienced and it can take years for them to build trust with someone to allow them to tell their stories. One case sticks out with me. A young boy I have worked with for nearly 5 years just finally starting opening up about his negative experiences. Bless him. I think of young Sterling in Harlingen Texas, searching for parental love as a young lad and escaping the horrors of his home. Then he finds a pseudo family to take him in and love him, but also with alternative purposes, they molded him into a criminal in the cartel. So his chances to be become a productive , law abiding adult in this world was null. He looks back on the past 30 years of his incarceration. Now, that he has a chance to come home, he has told me over and over again that he would have not made 99% of the decisions he did. Simply, he was lifer and did not have a care in the world and had nothing to lose. The mindset of lifer is completely different then a person serving a set sentence. He had to survive as a young man entering the system serving life. Now, he has regrets, which I told him, he cannot focus on the past or regrets, nothing he can do to change it. But, just focus on his current situation and coming home to have some sort of life that he deserves. Hope everyone is well and staying sane during these trying times.
