It was the year 2018, India was celebrating Diwali India’s then external affairs minister Smt. Sushma Swaraj received a tweet from the neighbouring country Pakistan.

A helpless Pakistani and father of a dying child who was suffering from a rare heart disease urged the minister through twitter. Touqueer Ali requested mentioning Sushma Swaraj, “Ma’m our Son has CCTGA which is very rare in nature n needs open heart surgery. There’s no such surgery done in pak ever, hardly a case in UAE but India is specialist in it. We’re really in need of help of India.”

It was an immediate response from her within 12 hours of his tweet. Ignoring the bitter relationship and the sharp differences with the neighbouring country, she decided to help him. Pakistani rulers are our enemy but it wasn’t the fault of a small child and his helpless father that they belong to the terror country.

She tweeted back to Touqueer, “Pls do not worry. I have asked @cgidubai to grant visa for the open heart surgery of your child in India.”

Touqeer thanked Sushma Swaraj for issuing a direction to grant medical visa to the family. He said, “Thank you so much Ma’m. Your response is such a relieve for us. Yakenan Allah ny apko hamaray jaisay logon ki help k liye bhaija hai. God Bless you always (sic).”

It felt like a Diwali gift to the family and this gesture made her won millions of heart across the globe including Pakistan.

But it was not the only incident when Sushma Swaraj helped a Pakistani citizen. She helped Shafiqa Bano, who had sought medical for treatment of her husbands liver transplant.

After Swaraj’s direction to grant a visa to the patient, Asif was effusive in her praise of the external affairs minister.

“@SushmaSwaraj What do I call you? Superwoman? God? No words to describe your generosity! Love you ma’am. Cannot stop praising you in tears!!!,” she said.

In another tweet, she said “my heart belongs and beats for you”, adding that “Pakistan doesn’t deserve her at all”.

From helping Indians abroad to giving her helping hand to Pakistani, she always knew what she was doing. An advocate of humanity and a true Indian by heart.

THE KASHMIRI INCIDENT

A couple of years back, it was a Kashmiri who sought her help in a passport issue but this time she denied first but after he corrected his profile, she helped him. The reason of denial is below..

Swaraj’s tweets had been shared over 6,700 times and liked by nearly 15,000 people as of 5 pm. Ateeq had deleted his Twitter profile. Swaraj, with 11.7 million Twitter followers, often makes the effort to respond to tweets.

“She wants a personal touch in the messages and often drafts her own response,” an aide to the minister said on condition of anonymity.

There are many instances of Swaraj helping Indian in distress by issuing instructions to officials on Twitter.

One thing is sure that Sushma Swaraj was one of the best Foreign Minister India has ever had.
