On the directions of Bharatiya Janata Party State president Ajay Bhatt, the party issued notices on allegations of indiscipline to its Mlas Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ of Khanpur and Deshraj Karnwal of Jhabreda on Monday. The notices were served on the basis of the statements made by the two MLAs against each other published in the media.
BJP State media in-charge Devendra Bhasin said that Bhatt had taken serious cognisance of the open dispute between the Khanpur MLA and his Jhabreda counterpart which has come to light through the media. On Monday, Bhatt discussed the matter with party’s state general secretary Naresh Bansal and Khajan Das after which it was decided that notices would be issued to the two MLAs accused of indiscipline. Bansal has issued the notices to the two MLAs who have been directed to reply within a week.
It will be recalled that while the Khanpur MLA has been accusing his Jhabreda counterpart of using a Fake Caste Certificate, the Jhabreda MLA has questioned the Khanpur MLA’s qualifications, stating that he was no champion.
Earlier, last week, Singh had challenged Karnwal to a bout at a stadium to settle their dispute.
On the other hand, while gesturing the pressing of a trigger with his finger, Karnwal had stated in a Press conference that this was how disputes were now settled, not by wrestling. He had also challenged Singh to publicly list the developmental works he had facilitated in his constituency. More recently, on Sunday, the Khanpur MLA had stated that BR Ambedkar should have been given the title of ‘father of the nation’ instead of MK Gandhi. He had also opined that the picture of Gandhi on currency notes should be replaced by that of Ambedkar’s. Earlier, he was also seen lambasting Irrigation minister Satpal Maharaj for not understanding works under his own department.
The series of controversial statements being made by the two MLAs against each other since the previous month have been causing some embarrassment to the BJP which otherwise projects an image of internal discipline.
Cong to meet Guv today
A delegation of the state unit of Congress led by the Pradesh Congress Committee chief Pritam Singh would call upon the governor Baby Rani Maurya at Raj Bhawan on Tuesday.
The delegation would raise the issue of the alleged fake caste certificate of Jhabreda MLA, Deshraj Karnwal.
The PCC president said that the BJP MLA from Khanpur, Pranav Singh Champion has claimed that the caste certificate of Karnwal is fake.
“It is very serious allegation as Karnwal has got elected from a reserved constituency. The charge of Champion is needed to be investigated.,’’ he said.
