Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated various developmental works and unveiled the foundation of different projects in Mussoorie and Kotdwar on Wednesday. In Mussoorie, he inaugurated the joint hospital building constructed at a cost of Rs 5.50 crore and unveiled the foundation for the Dehradun-Mussoorie ropeway project. In Kotdwar, he inaugurated the Pakhro eco-tourism zone in Corbett tiger reserve and inaugurated construction of Employees State Insurance Corporation super-speciality hospital (medical college).

In Mussoorie, Rawat said that the Dehradun-Mussoorie ropeway would be built at a cost of about Rs 300 crore in three years and be one of the five longest ropeways in the world. With the construction of the ropeway, the distance between Purkul in Dehradun and Mussoorie would be covered in 10-12 minutes.

In order to decrease traffic load in Mussoorie, various roads are being constructed in the surrounding areas. To resolve the problem of parking, space has been identified to build a high tech parking facility. He assured that modern technology will be utilised for repairing the roads in Mussoorie.

Later, in Kotdwar the CM inaugurated various developmental works and also presented financial assistance cheques and different equipment to beneficiaries under various schemes. He also announced Rs  40 crore for construction of advocates’ chambers.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that after the unveiling of foundation stones, the construction of various much awaited works will be expedited.

Apart from facilitating development at the local level, these works will also boost the state’s development and provide employment opportunities to the youth. Referring to the Young Uttarakhand programme held in Dehradun, he said that similar events would be held in other districts too. Stating that a ropeway will be constructed soon between Dehradun and Mussoorie, the CM said that survey work is being undertaken for construction of ropeways at Kedarnath, Neelkanth, Mukteshwar and other places. He also spoke about the steps taken by Government to improve the condition of medical health facilities, education and other important sectors.

Cabinet Minister and local MLA Harak Singh Rawat also expressed his views on the occasion.
