Ronaldo Given Standing Ovation By Lithuania Fans After Stunning Portugal Display

Cristiano Ronaldo recorded his 54th career hat-trick before adding a fourth as Portugal coasted to a 5-1 victory in Lithuania.

The Juventus forward opened the scoring from the spot after seven minutes before Vytautas Andriuskevicius levelled for the hosts.

Cristiano Ronaldo received a Standing Ovation from Lithuania fans after netting four goals on Tuesday night.

The Juventus star put in a brilliant performance at the LFF Stadium in Lithuania.

Ronaldo scored four in a terrific display to take his international goals tally to 93.

The European champions now sit second in their European qualifying table behind Ukraine.

With the win, they moved a point above third-placed Serbia, but have a game in hand.

Ronaldo kept his goalscoring form going with four goals to leapfrog Robbie Keane as the highest European qualifier goalscorer ever.

As he was brought off with ten minutes remaining, he received a standing ovation from all four corners of the ground.

Speaking after the game, Ronaldo told reporters that he was pleased to have added five goals to his tally, but was more pleased with getting the win.

“I’m having a good time, but the team was doing very well too,” Ronaldo told reporters.

“As I always say, I don’t live thinking about individual prizes.

“This is a consequence of what we collectively won. But it’s good, I won’t lie. The important thing was to help the team.

“I scored a goal against Serbia and four here and I’m very happy We have to dismiss this moment and what I want most is to continue like this.

“I am happy and enjoying this moment, not because I scored the goals, but because of the level we have been able to demonstrate in recent years.

“It is up to me to continue helping the national team.”

Ronaldo has started this season brilliantly, with six goals in his opening four games for club and country.
