‘Graphic Spotlights’ launched to champion regional dev’t

The Managing Director of Graphic Communications Group Ghana Limited (GCGL), Ato Afful, says the state media firm is poised towards ensuring that challenges confronting the various regions of the country are identified and highlighted for necessary attention.

He made the comment during the launch of the maiden edition of the ‘Graphic Spotlights’ at Takoradi in the Western Region, where he said potentials in the various regions will also be highlighted to attract needed investment.

The ‘Graphic Spotlights’ is an initiative to help throw the spotlight on challenges confronting all sixteen regions of the country.

It will see the dedication of 16 pages in the paper towards highlighting challenges in the various regions and to also draw potential investor attention to same.

Publications on these issues will every Saturday and it will also provide a platform to galvanize communities in the various regions into action to ensure development.

Paramount Chief of Essikado Traditional Area Nana Kobina Nketsia V commended Graphic Communications Group for the initiative, which he said will help highlight the potentials in the various regions including the Western Region, which contributes a lot to the national economy.

He further urged both management and board of the company to ensure that the publications place premium on critical areas in the villages, communities and cities in the country for their transformation.

The Director in charge of News at the GCGL, Mavis Kitcher, said the company deemed it a prime responsibility to use their expertise not to only inform, educate and entertain the citizens but also to highlight challenges and potentials in the various regions into action for their progress.

“This initiative will ensure that no matter where citizens live in the country, their standard of living would not be markedly different,” she said.

A member of the Board of Directors of GCGL, Ajoa Yeboah-Afari, gave the assurance that the board would continue to come out with policy directions that would not only project the company and the country, but also improve lives of the ordinary people.

The Deputy Western Regional Minister, Gifty Eugenia Kusi, on her part, commended Graphic for the initiative, adding her region needs to be highlighted since it contributes significantly to the nation’s economy.

Nana Kobina Nketsia V, who launched the maiden edition of the  ‘Graphic Spotlight’, presented autographed copies of the first publication to guests.
