PK’s demise: I have no more political godfather – Koku Anyidoho

The final funeral rites of the late Amissah-Arthur was well attended by government officials, politicians and the public

Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has said the demise of former vice president Kwesi Amissah-Arthur leaves him with nobody to look up to in politics. 

Tearing Koku Anyidoho, who could not hold himself to finish an interview at the final funeral rites of the late Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, said the late vice president was the only living person he looked up to in politics.

Mr. Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur who passed on Friday, June 29, at the 37 military hospital was laid to rest Friday July 27 at the Burma Camp Military Cemetery in Accra.

Preceding the burial was a church service held at the Accra International Conference Centre where many including the wife of the late vice president, former president John Mahama and vice president, Mahamudu Bawumia paid glowing tributes to the former vice president.

For his tribute, Koku Anyidoho said Amissah-Arthur was one of his political godfathers and his demise leaves him with none.

“And I will say it today unequivocally, president Mills, Professor Awoonor, Amissah-Arthur, I have no other godfather in politics”, tearing Koku Anyidoho told TV3.

The Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress added that even though he has respect for former president Jerry John Rawlings; he is not one of the people he looks up to when it comes to politics.

“I respect  President Rawlings, I saw him, I lived through the revolution but President Mills, Professor Awoonor, Amissah-Arthur, beyond them, I have no other godfathers and may their souls rest in peace”, he reiterated.

The NDC deputy general secretary who was clad in the official funeral cloth of late former president John Evans Atta Mills noted that  Amissah-Arthur “was cast in the mold of Mills” and that they were his godfathers in politics.
