Trump’s Take On Roy Moore And Michael Flynn

Before departing on his trip to Salt Lake City, President Trump addresses questions regarding Roy Moore and Michael Flynn.

President Trump briefly addressed the press at 8:25 am EST this morning before boarding a helicopter to take him to Air Force One, on which he will fly to Salt Lake City, Utah.

President Trump On Mike Flynn

Mike Flynn, President Trump’s former national security adviser, pleaded guilty last Friday, Dec 1, to lying to the F.B.I. about conversations with the Russian ambassador last December. In response to questions this morning regarding Flynn, Trump noted, “well, I feel badly for General Flynn. I feel very badly. He’s led a very strong life, and I feel very badly.”

Continuing, Trump stated, “I will say this: Hillary Clinton lied many times to the FBI and nothing happened to her.  Flynn lied and they destroyed his life.  I think it’s a shame. Hillary Clinton, on the Fourth of July weekend, went to the FBI, not under oath — it was the most incredible thing anyone has ever seen.  She lied many times.  Nothing happened to her.  Flynn lied, and it’s like they ruined his life.  It’s very unfair,” before taking leave of the press and making his way to the helicopter that would take him to Air Force One.

President Trump publicly endorses Roy Moore

Later on that day, the White House released a statement that said President Trump “had a positive call with Judge Roy Moore during which they discussed the state of the Alabama Senate race and the President endorsed Judge Moore’s campaign.”

Roy Moore is a former state Supreme Court judge who has been accused of multiple acts of sexual misconduct, including the molestation of underage girls when he was a prosecutor in his 30s. He has denied all the accusations and has rejected all calls to quit the race. Unlike many other Republicans, President Trump has defended Moore, claiming that he believes Moore deserves to be heard.

“He says it didn’t happen,” the president had previously told reporters at the White House, in response to questions regarding Moore. “You have to listen to him, also.”

President Trump turned to Twitter this morning to outline the reasons why he believes Mr. Moore has to win the Senate seat:

“Democrats refusal to give even one vote for massive Tax Cuts is why we need Republican Roy Moore to win in Alabama. We need his vote on stopping crime, illegal immigration, Border Wall, Military, Pro-Life, V.A., Judges 2nd Amendment and more. No to Jones, a Pelosi/Schumer Puppet!”

Judge Moore also turned to Twitter after his phone call with Trump:

Roy Moore is up against Democratic candidate Doug Jones for the highly coveted Senate seat, which became vacant after President Trump designated Jeff Sessions to be his Attorney General. The special election will take place next Tuesday, on Dec 12.
