Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., on Wednesday said former White House strategist Steve Bannon looks like a "disheveled drunk" who doesn't belong anywhere in America's political scene after his Alabama Senate candidate, Roy Moore, lost in a stunning upset Tuesday night.
"This guy does not belong on the national stage. He looks like some disheveled drunk who wandered on to the political stage. He does not represent anything that I stand for," King said on CNN. "And he sort of parades himself out there with his weird alt-right views that he has and to me it's demeaning the whole governmental, political process."
Rep. Peter King: Steve Bannon "looks like some disheveled drunk who wandered on to the political stage" says Alabama vote was a "revulsion by people" of Bannon's style and political views https://t.co/EJGw7GI4Is— New Day (@NewDay) December 13, 2017
King said the rejection of Republican Roy Moore, who Bannon had campaigned for in the Alabama Senate special election, was "really just a revulsion by people" over Bannon's style and "divisive views."
When asked if King was calling Bannon a disheveled drunk, King clarified: "No, it was very precise. I said he looks like one."
King also said he's not worried if his comments might mean more fighting with Bannon.
"I have no problem. Listen, you have to fight for what's right. He attacked the president's daughter the other night when he took a shot at Ivanka Trump, mocking her expression 'special place in hell.' This person to me, Bannon, does not belong on the American political scene," King said.
