IPL 2023: Dwayne Bravo announces retirement from IPL, will serve as bowling coach of CSK

West Indies legendary all-rounder and Indian Premiere League’s leading wicket taker. Dwayne Bravo has called time on his playing career in the league. But the cricketer will stay associated with the league as CSK’s bowling coach.

Bravo joined Chennai Super Kings in 2011 and since then he has been an integral part of the franchise. But now the team will have to perform without their most dependable bowler. However, Bravo made the announcement and said that he will work in different capacity but will stay with CSK only.

Bravo said that he looking forward to this new journey because it’s something he sees himself doing after his playing days are fully over. Bravo said that he enjoyed working with bowlers and it’s a role that he’s the most excited about. Bravo thinks that from player to coach, he will not have to adjust much because while playing, he has worked with bowlers and has tried to come up with plans and ideas on how to have that one step ahead of the batsmen. The only difference is that he will no longer be standing at mid-on or mid-off, said Dwayne Bravo.

For the unversed, DJ Bravo is the highest-ever wicket-taker in the history of IPL. He had 183 wickets from 161 matches to his name. The West Indies origin all-rounder has also scored 1560 runs at a strike rate of around 130.

Not everyone knows that he played for Mumbai Indians for the fist three editions of Indian Premiere League and since 2011 he was the integral part of Chennai Super Kings’ IPL victories. The Yellow Army lifted the trophy in 2011, 2018, and 2021 and the Champions League T20 victory in 2014. Dwayne Bravo was also the first player to win the Purple Cap for most wickets in an IPL season twice in 2013 and later in 2015.
