Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra has reached Madhya Pradesh, the most important state of the Hindi belt, passing through the southern states. The Bharat Jodo Yatra is passing through Malwa-Nimar, which is said to have a stronghold for BJP’s RSS. In 2018, Congress formed its government by breaking through this fortress of BJP.

However, Kamal Nath’s government succumbed within 15 months and BJP came back to power again. And now Congress is once again eyeing these areas. The party hopes that this visit of Rahul will strengthen the grassroots organization while the morale of the workers will also increase, which would help them in 2023 assembly elections and 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra entered Madhya Pradesh on 23 November after completing a journey of 2000 kilometers in South India. This yatra will now move through 14 assembly seats of 6 districts of Malwa Nimar via Burhanpur. There are 66 assembly seats in this entire region. In this, 22 seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribes and 9 seats for Scheduled Castes.

For the unversed, in the 2018 assembly elections, BJP won 29 seats and Congress got 34 seats. In the previous three assembly elections, BJP had won more seats than the Congress. Now the Congress is trying to repeat its old performance in MP for the 2023 assembly elections.

In Rahul Gandhi’s visit to MP, special attention has been given to the geographical conditions as well as the importance of Malwa Nimar in the politics of the state. This area is also known as the nursery of the Sangh. Congress is trying to reach every section of the society in the state through this yatra.

Rahul Gandhi will travel in Madhya Pradesh for about 13 days. During this, he will enter Rajasthan after covering a distance of about 400 km. During this visit of Rahul Gandhi will also visit about 6 Lok Sabha seats. Except Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat, all the seats are occupied by BJP. Apart from this, this yatra is also covering about 25 assembly seats.
