CAT 2022 tomorrow: Last minute tips and strategies to ace entrance exam

The Common Aptitude Test (CAT) is a national-level entrance exam and is scheduled to be held on November 27. Every year, around 2 lakh candidates appear for the CAT exam to get admission to top-notch business schools.

CAT is one of the most difficult entrance exams for Management of Business Administration (MBA).

With just a day left for the CAT 2023, here are the last-minute preparation tips and strategies for the exam.

  • Avoid studying new topics at the last minute.
  • Try to solve last year’s questions at this hour.
  • Revise from the previously prepared notes.
  • Keep polishing your speed and accuracy level.
  • Practice managing time in an effective way.
  • Attempt the familiar questions first, and then try out the difficult ones. 

Last-minute CAT preparation strategy Section-wise

The CAT 2022 exam will consist of 66 questions divided across three sections. The sections include Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension. Candidates have 40 minutes to complete each section with PwD candidates receiving an additional 13 minutes and 20 seconds for each Section.

Quantitative Aptitude

As this section is covered by concept-based questions, thus it is important for the candidates to clear the concept first. You need to have a strong command of calculation. To excel in this section, go through the previous year’s question paper.

Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning

There is no need to learn any kind of formula to ace this section as all the questions in this section is based on logic.

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension

This is the only section that can disbalance time management. This section requires good reading skills, as candidates have to read long passages and answer all questions related to the passage. Candidates need to work on their vocabulary to ace this section.

CAT 2022: Marking Scheme

  • For every accurate MCQ answer, candidates will receive 3 points.
  • For every incorrect MCQ answer, one mark will be deducted.
  • Marks will not be deducted for a question that is not an MCQ.
  • No credit will be given for questions that are unanswered.
