Tamil Nadu: 3 die, 11 hospitalized allegedly due to food poisoning in private orphanage

At least three people died and 11 are sick, allegedly after consuming food in a Private Orphanage in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruppur. According to the reports, the case is suspected to be of food poisoning, but the exact cause is yet to be known.

According to the reports, the boys had rice mixed with rasam and laddu for dinner on Wednesday. Soon after they started feeling nauseous but later they felt a little better and went to bed.

Their condition deteriorated on Thursday and they started feeling unconscious after they had breakfast, the reports state.

Tirupur District Collector Vineeth said the samples have been sent for investigation and the real reason behind the death and sickness of people will only be known after clinical investigation of the samples.

Vineeth said the case has been registered against the private orphanage administration.

The investigation regarding the incident is underway. The authorities are also probing to find out the chain of events.

Earlier, two toddlers died and 10 children were hospitalized after they allegedly consumed contaminated food at an orphanage in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.

District Magistrate, Sarvagya Ram Mishra, said It is very very unfortunate that 12 kids took ill due to food poisoning out of which two lost their lives. The children who died were between six months to two years old.
