A Fire broke out in a high-rise building in Kalyan town of Maharashtra’s Thane district on Sunday. Two flats were ravaged by a fire. Four fire tenders immediately rushed to the spot.

A fire official of the Kalyan Dombivili Municipal Corporation said the blaze erupted in a flat on the third floor at around 6 am in an 18-storey building in the Vayle Nagar locality of Kalyan and spread to an adjacent flat.

He added that the trapped residents were evacuated with the help of ladders. Two flats were totally gutted in a fire while the doors of four other flats were also damaged in the incident. No casualties were reported in the incident.

According to the officials, a short circuit may have been a result of a fire in the building. Reportedly, four fire tenders brought the blaze under control after an hour.

A few days ago, a fire broke out in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at the District Women’s Hospital in Amravati where twelve infants were on ventilator support. Hospital staff noticed smoke coming from the neonatal ICU and immediately informed the fire brigade. The newborns were rescued in time and a major tragedy was averted. The rescued babies were shifted to a superspeciality hospital.

According to the reports, the fire was caused by a short circuit in one of the ventilators.

Earlier, a godown of an Agri technology company was gutted in a major fire in Purna village near Bhiwandi city in the Thane district. At least six fire engines and water tankers brought the fire under control after six hours.
