Former PDP minister Syed Altaf Bukhari launches ‘Apni Party’ in Jammu and Kashmir

Former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) minister Syed Altaf Bukhari launched his own political party ‘Apni Party’ in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. He has roped in a few prominent Kashmiri leaders in his party and is upbeat about the future of the party.

As per reports, former minister and Democratic Party Nationalist chairman Ghulam Hassan Mir, former PDP MLAs Dilawar Mir, Noor Mohammad Sheikh, Ashraf Mir and former Congress MLAs Farooq Andrabi, Irfan Naqib and others are expected to join Syed Altaf Bukhari’s party later today.

While making the announcement, Bukhari said, “It is a very happy occasion that finally we have come up with our party known as Apni Party. It puts a lot of responsibility on us as the expectations and challenges are huge. I assure people of Jammu and Kashmir that my will is strong.”

“We’re not here to sell dreams and fantasies but will always be pragmatic, honest and fair in our approach. We have resolved to create a political platform where people are real stakeholders of the political process,” he said during the launch.

Talking about the party’s agenda he said, “the party will seek to preserve the self-respect and dignity of people of the state, dignified return of Kashmiri Pandits, empowerment of youth and women.”
