Halloween was days ago, and we thought that the winners of the 2017 fancy dress battle had already been decided.
Kim Kardashian as Cher, Heidi Klum as the Thriller werewolf and Alan Carr as a bloody Gemma Collins all gained medals.
But then, four days after Halloween, Beyonce has swooped in and demanded a recount.
The 36-year-old wore not one, not two, but five costumes this year – all homages to Lil’ Kim.
And, to paraphrase Queen Bey herself, she slayed, all day.
Beyonce shared her five costumes, which were exact duplicates of various looks rapper Lil’ Kim rocked over the years, on Instagram and her website, and fans were freaking out.
The first saw Bey wearing red trousers, a white shirt and Chanel braces to embody Kim’s look from the 1997 Rain video with Missy Elliott, while her husband Jay Z dressed as the Notorious B.I.G in a red leather jacket and chains.
After this, Beyonce wore fluorescent lime underwear, heels and a matching Fur Coat, as well as a silver wig and a fishnet bodysuit, to copy Kim’s costume from 1997’s No Way Out tour.
A blue silk slip, a fur coat and a blunt blonde wig paid tribute to Lil’ Kim’s 2000 Blackwoman magazine cover, while a hugely plunging shirt and a teal wig with the Chanel logo stamped on the fringe was a replica of the 2001 Manhattan File over Kim posed for.
But our favourite could be the fur-trimmed nude bodysuit and streaked white wig Bey wore to pay homage to Kim’s appearance at the 1999 Source Awards.
Bey shared the pictures on her website under the headline: ‘Lil’ Kim appreciation: Hip hop would not be the same without our original Queen B.’
While the Beyhive all branded the mum-of-three legendary and the Queen of Halloween, it seems Lil’ Kim was mighty impressed too.
The Crush On You rapper took to Twitter to fangirl over the ‘honour’.
Kim tweeted: ‘I’m speechless and honored.
