‘Preppers’ have their moment as coronavirus spreads – Washington Times

Historically, the disaster Preppers have been looked down upon by general society.   To many, at best Preppers are thought of as being eccentric but mostly harmless.   At worst, preppers also are depicted as sociopaths that are waiting for armageddon to occur.

However, with the recent Covid-19 scare (and the lack of everyday commodities like toilet paper and hand sanitizer), the prepper community has recently gained a bit of new-found respect.

A short article from The Washington Times, in the age of Covid-19, shows how prepping has gained some respect from society

They’re not laughing anymore amid panic buying that has cleared store shelves across the U.S. and growing fears that the new Coronavirus will force many Americans to self-quarantine for weeks in their homes.

This article also goes on to explain how the majority of preppers simply practice disaster prepping as  a means to survive until help can arrive:

“The vast majority of this is ‘beans and Band-Aids,’ not ‘bullets and bunkers,’” Ramey said.

So, who is getting the last laugh? now?
