There are lots of places to walk and enjoy some peaceful time in Wigan. Access to the country is very easy and very quick - although close to all the urban expansion of Manchester and Liverpool, the town has not lost its green belt appeal.
To the north of Wigan, just outside Standish you will find Worthington Lakes, tucked away off a small car park off the main road. A small path goes all the way around and you can sit on a small wall at the far end of the Lake.
Last autumn I took a walk out there and here are the images that I captured on that day.
