The Kerala government on Wednesday said that they were planning about a law on attacks by Pet Dogs after an incident of a 60-year-old woman getting mauled to death by two pet Rottweiler dogs in Wayanad.
“A Comprehensive Law is under consideration for pet dogs as there have been reports of increased attacks against people,” chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed the state assembly.
He responded to CK Saseendharan (CPI-M) who brought to the notice of the house, the death of an old-woman by two pet dogs.
The Vythiri police has registered a case against the dogs’ owner, Jose on charges of fault manslaughter and for keeping residential animals that could pose threat to others.
The chief minister said it was also found that the owner had no permit to keep pet dogs according to law and had also not followed guidelines.

Terming the incident very bad fortune, Pinarayi said that the state government is considering a ₹5-lakh compensation for the deceased woman’s family.
