A black Cocker Spaniel was Rescued from a drainage pipe after being trapped for three days. Spencer, the dog got trapped in a pipe in Tilsley Park in Abingdon, Oxfordshire on Saturday. Sarah Wallis, the dog’s owner said that they all “burst into tears” when he was finally rescued.
Fire brigade rescued the dog
A team of fire brigade and members from the Thames water successfully rescued the dog by removing the tarmac, digging a hole and cutting the pipe. The made sure not to harm the dog during the process.
A spokesperson for Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said Spencer was trapped in an old drainage pipe which was about 12 inches (30cm) in diameter.
Ms. Wallis said,“They had thought the worst during the effort to find Spencer. We have had upwards of 30 or 40 people traipsing through fields on Sunday, people turning up in the middle of the night. We’d like to say a massive thank you to everybody.”
The dog was in an unconscious state when rescued but he is fine now. They sent the dog to the vet for medical examination.
A team from Thames Water said, “We’re delighted we were able to use our equipment and expertise to help free Spencer from the private sewer and reunite him with his owner. We hope he gets lots of treats and makes a full recovery from his experience.”
