Chromatopelma Cyaneopubescens | Greenbottle blue

The Chromatopelma Cyaneopubescens also known as the Greenbottle Blue, is a very colorful species of tarantula. As you can see with the picture to the right, its no wonder this beautiful species is also known as the greenbottle blue. Originating from harsh and dry climate, this makes it very hardy and thus an ideal beginner tarantula. So the recommened temperatures for these species are between 70 – 78 degrees F. Humidity should range around 40 – 60%. This can be achieved by providing a very shallow water dish. A quick test to know if your terrarium is at either one of the extremes (too dry or wet), is to gently blow on the substrate, if it is so dry to the extent where dust particles start forming I highly suggest misting your terrarium. If on the other hand, it feels swampy and wet I would suggest drying the substrate since humidity higher than 80% kills most adults. One thing to note however with these species is that it is very skittish, and thus not recommend for handling. For a fall for any tarantula could potentially rupture their abdomens and result in a painful loss of a great pet. Nevertheless, the Chromatopelma Cyaneopubescens makes a great display species since it stays out in  the open, unlike other recommend species like the Mexican Redknee, B. smithi and the Brachypelma albopilosum. Another thing to note is that they are fairly active and they create these wonderful silk retreats. If you are one of those that enjoy feeding your tarantula, you will be happy to find out that these are voracious feeders and young spiders will even take food as big as themselves.
