Hello again, today is Buzzy and Bumble’s birthday! They turn five today. I can’t believe they are so old. I t feels like yesterday when they were born.
It is hard to believe that over five Years Ago, we decided to have more pets in our home. We already had Honey and the two budgies; William and Jill. I realize that I rarely, if never, mention the budgies. They have been in our family since we moved to Bandon thirteen years ago. Honestly, the budgies that we have right now are not the ones we had all those years ago. Although, Jill has stuck with us since before Bandon. William, on the other hand has come in many forms over the years.
Now getting back to the birthday boys! As I was saying, it is very hard to imagine our once little baby Basset hounds being all grown up. It is essentially having two fully grown men living in our utility room. Sometimes, I wish I could go back in time to when all eleven of them were still in our house. It was complete mayhem but it was weirdly comforting having that many dogs in our house.
At this stage, it is fairly obvious that my love for my dogs has made me far more aware of being able to look after others. It sounds silly, I know, but I am happier with them in my life. Honey, on the other hand, acts as if they are brothers and sister more than mother and sons a lot of the time. It as though she chooses to be this way. There is no major difference in how she treats them on a daily basis to when it is their birthday.
This morning I did not get a proper chance to wish the boys a happy birthday as they were still asleep when I was leaving for college.
*My internet went as I was in the middle of writing this. *
When I got home, I found out that my mom had been spoiling them all day. All day they were sleeping, eating and playing. It sounds like every day for them, but it is their day and they can do what ever they want. My dad wasn’t exactly thrilled with the idea of us making such a big deal of their birthday.
We are planning on bringing the dogs to the beach at the weekend as none of us have time to go during the week. The dogs don’t seem to notice any difference in their day apart from some extra love and attention and a lot more delicious food. They are happy out.
Overall, the dogs had a great day. I wish I was able to spend the day with them today. I will make it up to them at the weekend.
